This sleep called death cannot overwhelm our spirits, as though we lacked a hope brighter than the noonday sun! (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14) 2.6 billion minds share this hope! Kings, Queens, scientists, doctors, janitors and billionaires, the obscure and famous agree on this one thing: They form the 33% of the earth whose songs and speech never stop, day and night, in countless millions of churches. And what is that message? "Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" Death is not the end, but the BEGINNING. Jesus died. And rose from the dead! And he has promised by this same power to raise us also. Who cannot plainly see Jesus' undeniable and globally measurable influence of pure light whose educational, medical and charitable institutions have no close rivals? The power for goodness here, hints at his power for goodness elsewhere. From what we see, what we cannot is surmised. From Jesus' measurable power on earth, hope in his immeasurable power in Heaven is justified. How many people our mother helped is not a small number! She showed a faith in love by her deeds! As it's written: Whoever welcomes the light of the world and walks in love will live, even though he dies. (John 11.25, 1John 4:7, 1John 1:7) We're told no eye has seen what awaits us. But we know this: Revelation 21:4-6 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." And we hear the most cogent of ancient words: Romans 8:38-39 Neither death nor life nor any powers, nor anything in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus' friends also wept! And yet only a few miles away, Jesus was pulling the shroud from his head. He folded it up and laid it beside him on the cold stone. He walked from his tomb - NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN! qh2 Mourning was replaced with REJOICING! Who are we kidding? We too shall pass. And with our loved ones, we too shall rejoice! 1 Corinthians 15:50-55 I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" Would you like to be set free from every fear and anxiety? Read the gospels of John and Matthew 1:1 and also the Letter to the Roman church: Romans 1:1 The New Testament, though earth's most influential writing of all, takes no time at all to read in its entirety.
